Getting from Dubrovnik to Lastovo Island
The distance from Dubrovnik to Lastovo is about 50 nautical miles (about 92 km). There are two direct ferry connections to Lastovo from Dubrovnik, both of them for foot passengers. There are no direct car ferries from Dubrovnik to Lastovo. The alternatives are indirect ferry routes, including car ferry connections. Here are the best travel options:
Foot passengers:
If you are a foot passenger, your best option is to take the fast catamaran ferry line 9808 which runs all year round and connects daily Dubrovnik and Lastovo. The journey lasts 3.5 hours. It is 9808 TP Line’s ferry crossing, departing from Dubrovnik daily at 13:00 (or 14:30) and arriving in Lastovo (Ubli port) at 16:30 (or 18:05), depending on the season. The alternative for July & August is the 9807 line on Mondays and Fridays, departing from Dubrovnik at 08:00, and arriving in Lastovo (Ubli) at noon. If you prefer to travel by bus, you can get a bus from Dubrovnik to Vela Luka and get on the ferry to the island from there. This option will involve overnight in Vela Luka as by the time the bus arrives there, the ferry has already left.
By Car:
There are no direct car ferries from Dubrovnik to Lastovo island. If you are traveling by car your best option is to drive to Korcula (via Orebic) take a car ferry from there (details) and drive to Vela Luka and get to Lastovo from there. Private transfers:
Uber is operating in Dubrovnik. You can consider taking it to Vela Luka to join the ferry to the island. Private boat transfers are also an option. Water taxis in Dubrovnik offer fast transfers to Lastovo. It lasts for about 3.5 hours. But it is important to consider the weather forecast and possible bad weather when water taxis are not operating. Public transport (ferry, bus, car ferry) is much more reliable as they use large vessels which cope easier in rough seas.
